  • Black Belt

Jeremy began wrestling around the age of six and spent most of his adolescent years wrestling year round and competing in freestyle and folkstyle tournaments throughout his home state of Pennsylvania and the northeast. After he moved to Pocatello, ID, he enthusiastically became a student of the ‘Gentle Way’ training with the ISU Judo Team for about 10 years under sensei Sami Tadehara. After graduating and leaving Pocatello, he looked again for a new challenge and attended a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class in Idaho Falls one night after work. Jeremy was amazed at the level of technique the lower ranks exhibited sparring, and how easily the instructor Jared Emfield submitted him at will. The experience that night revived his interest to start down a new path studying the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, more specifically Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

Currently, Jeremy holds the rank of black belt in the Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association and Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt) in Judo. He looks forward to continuing his journey for many years of training ahead. Previously, he was a student of the Academy of Martial Arts (now Soma Jiu Jitsu Academy Idaho), an affiliate of the Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association, for nine years and achieved the rank of brown belt. He also travels and trains whenever he can at Unified Brazilian Jiu Jitsu led by professors John Carlquist and James Gardner in South Jordan, UT.

Jeremy has been competing in various grappling (wrestling, judo, and Brazilian jiu jitsu) tournaments most of his life. In the past few years, he has won regional gi and nogi jiu jitsu tournaments such as Northwest Submission Challenge and NAGA. Jeremy has also been successful on the World stage placing second in the 2021 IBJJF Master Worlds Black Belt Master 4 division, placing second in the 2017 IBJJF Master Worlds Master 3 Brown Belt division, and winning the 2017 IBJJF NoGi Brown Belt Master 3 division.
